The
Pharaoh Hound is thought to be the oldest domesticated dog in the world.
As a breed it is almost unchanged in over 5,000 years.
Pharaoh hounds were the hunting companions of the ancient pharaohs of Egypt
The Egyptian God of Death and Embalming, Anubis, appears as a Pharaoh Hound and is depicted on many important historical sites in the ancient world.
A tomb of a Pharaoh Hound was found in the great cemetery near the Pyramid of Cheops at Giza in 1935.
The Pharaoh Hound was first imported into Britain in the early 1930's. Since then this fantastic breed has become a well kept secret amongst aficionados of high quality dogs.
